Happy Houndz Policies & Requirements

At Happy Houndz, we’re all about happy tails, safe play, and peace of mind for pet parents.
To keep every pup healthy and every visit worry-free, please take a moment to review our policies below.

Vaccination Requirements

For everyone’s safety, all dogs must have up-to-date vaccination records before joining daycare or boarding.
We require proof of:

  • Canine Parvovirus
  • Distemper
  • Canine Hepatitis
  • Rabies

A valid titer test is also accepted instead of vaccination proof.

Spay & Neuter Policy

To promote a safe and relaxed play environment:

  • All pups over the age of 8 months must be spayed or neutered.
  • Male dogs must be neutered by 8 months
  • Female dogs to be spayed after their first heat cycle

This helps keep energy levels balanced and group play harmonious.

Booking

You can easily book daycare or boarding through our website www.happyhoundz.ca or by emailing info@happyhoundz.ca.

Assessment

Prior to Daycare, every new dog goes through a gentle, personalized introduction process, we call Assessment. We start by learning about your dog’s personality and routine, then ease them into our environment with calm, positive interactions. Our team observes comfort levels, introduces compatible playmates, and assists your dog in building confidence and friendships, in our safe, supportive setting.
Prior to their first boarding stay, all dogs are required to complete an assessment along with two full daycare days to ensure they feel comfortable, confident, and familiar with our environment.

Safe, Supervised Play

Our team completes custom training that includes videos, quizzes, and hands-on learning with experienced staff. We’re trained to read dog body language, because every pup gives signals about how they feel.

We maintain a 1 team member to 15 dogs ratio — more eyes, more care, more peace of mind. Even so, dogs are instinctive animals and the occasional tussle can happen. When it does, our team steps in right away to separate, redirect, and calm the dogs, check everyone over, and ensure the group returns to play safely and happily.

Health & Wellness

Keep us informed about any allergies, medical conditions, or physical limitations so we can make sure your pup gets the care they need.

When to keep a dog at home: showing signs of illness such as coughing, sneezing, vomiting, or diarrhea.

Dogs with contagious conditions (e.g., kennel cough, papillomavirus) or females in heat must stay home until fully recovered or cleared by a vet.

Pick-Up Time

A $10 fee applies for every 15 minutes past 5 hours for half-days or 6:30 PM for full-days

Boarding Eligibility

To help your dog feel right at home during overnight stays, all boarding guests must attend daycare at least once every 6 months. Familiar faces and routines make boarding a stress-free experience!

Requirements

All pups over the age of 8 months must be spayed or neutered.

Prior to their first boarding stay, all dogs are required to complete an assessment along with two full daycare days to ensure they feel comfortable, confident, and familiar with our environment.

If your dog has not attended daycare within the past six months, a daycare day will be required prior to boarding to help them reacclimatize and set them up for a successful stay.

What’s Included

Boarding is based on a 24-hour period and includes a full day of daycare, giving your pup plenty of playtime, enrichment, and social interaction throughout their stay.

Prior to your pup’s visit, we’ll send you a helpful “What to Pack” checklist along with confirmation of your check-in and check-out details, so everything is seamless and stress-free.

Booking & Notice

We kindly ask that boarding reservations be made with at least 48 hours’ notice whenever possible.

Emergency / Illness

In the event of illness or emergency, veterinary care will be sought and owners will be contacted immediately.

Please ensure your emergency contact is someone not travelling with you, so they are available to make timely decisions on your behalf if needed.

By boarding with Happy Houndz, you authorize us to seek veterinary care if required and agree to be responsible for any associated costs. Every effort will be made to contact you or your emergency contact prior to treatment whenever possible.

Deposit & Cancellation Policy

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your reservation.

Once your booking is confirmed, it is considered final. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice will result in the loss of the deposit.

Early Pick-Ups

As space is reserved specifically for your pup, we are unable to offer refunds or credits for early pick-ups or shortened stays.
