First Time Boarding

We are dedicated to ensuring your dog has a smooth and successful boarding experience! All first-time boarding dogs will start with a complimentary "assessment" day. After successfully completing the assessment, your pup’s photo will be proudly featured on our Wall of Fame, signifying their ability to join the Happy Houndz pack.
The next step is for your dog to attend 2 additional daycare days to qualify for overnight boarding. These days give your dog the chance to relax, get comfortable in our environment, meet new pals, participate in our enrichment daycare program, and allow our staff to get to know their unique personality. This helps us prepare for their stay, ensuring they have a positive experience. The pre-boarding visit also helps your dog understand that Happy Houndz is a fun and enjoyable place to be —temporarily—before they return home. The routine of dropping them off, letting them have fun, and then experiencing you return to pick them up reinforces the understanding that you will always come back.
At Happy Houndz, we've designed a safe and comfortable space to provide a cozy, secure environment for your dog. Our facility features several indoor playrooms that lead to a large outdoor play yard, where your dog can enjoy a mix of structured activities and free play with their friends all morning long. The mornings always bring high energy and excitement, so by the afternoon, an instinctual pack nap is taken, with soften lights and comforting music. After their nap, they’ll wake up refreshed and ready for more fun and adventures. During daycare, your dog is free to roam and explore as they please. Our enrichment daycare program, running weekdays is included with all boarding stays to keep your dog active and engaged.
Once all daycare dogs have been picked up, only boarding dogs remain on-site, creating a calm and secure environment. Our Canine Condo provides a private space for eating and a quiet, safe area for sleeping. The boarding facility is climate-controlled to ensure your dog’s comfort. A dedicated staff member stays with the dogs until 8:00 PM, tucking them in and ensuring they are comfortably settled for the night.
On weekends, staff members are on-site first thing in the morning and again in the late afternoon into the early evening, providing special one-on-one attentive care. Your pup will be fed, exercised outdoors, and have ample playtime with their fellow boarders. Most of all they are showered with love, making them feel safe and happy.

Return Boarders

To ensure your dog’s comfort and well-being, any dogs that haven’t attended daycare in the past 3 months will need to complete one daycare evaluation day before being accepted for boarding. This allows your dog to reacclimatize to our environment and ensures a smooth, stress-free transition during their visit.

What to Bring

Food - Please pack enough food and treats for the duration of your dog's stay, plus a little extra. Keep in mind that the average dog typically takes 8,000 steps a day at home, but at daycare, they can average 30,000 steps, so they may eat more. You can bring a single bag or container of food, or pre-portion each meal into separate bags. Occasionally, dogs may show disinterest in their food, so it’s a good idea to bring any special canned or raw food, or food toppers your dog particularly enjoys, to mix into their meals and encourage eating if needed.
Medication – Oral medications must be supplied in the original prescription container labelled with your dog’s name, dosage, and the reason for the medication. As well, all instructions should be as specific and detailed as possible. The same applies to topical creams and ointments.
Bedding – bring that oh so familiar bed and blanket they use at home so they have that nightly comfort and recognizable smell of home for a calming effect. In the unexpected event of soiled bedding, rest assured we will laundry as needed for a nominal fee to always keep your pup comfortable.
No need to bring bowls, we supply both food and water bowls. The bowls are hygienic stainless steel so that they can be easily and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. And they range in size to ensure that the ideal bowls are selected for your dog.

Happy Houndz will accept a Titer in place of a vaccination record.

What is Titer Testing?

A titer test is a laboratory test that measures the existence and level of antibodies to disease in blood. Antibodies are produced when an antigen, like a virus or bacteria, provokes a response from the immune system. This response can come from natural exposure or from vaccination.

Why Titer Test?

The parvovirus/distemper test can help you and your pet’s doctor determine if your dog requires additional vaccination, preventing over-vaccination.
It is especially useful when deciding about vaccinating an animal with unknown vaccination history, or for determining if your furry friend has received immunity from vaccination.
Most experts believe strong titers are a more reliable indication of immunity than vaccination because titer tests show the actual immune response, not just the attempt to cause an immune response by vaccination.
